Welcome to Jessie's little corner of the web.
This website is a jumbled collection of things I enjoy, and an excuse for me to play with colors.
I hope you find something that interests you here.

All About Me

ladybug, concordant opposition, undernet, irc, nick, nickname

As you may have figured out by now, my name is Jessie. I am 30. My favorite color is green. I live in the Midwest. In my former job I was a Technical Analyst and a Team Lead for the leading "Insurance to Value" software company in North America (and I think in Canada and the UK as well now.) Before that, I did technical support for an Internet Service Provider for several years. I've also, at times, been a waitress (at more places than I can count), worked in two clothing stores (what better way to get discounts on expensive business clothes, than to work at a clothes store part time!), and a bunch of other stuff as well. See the Rants and Raves page for some techie humor from my days at ExecPC (the ISP I worked for).

Over three years ago, I quit all of my various jobs to devote more time to running my own business. I own Green Web Design & Internet Consulting. (yes, that really was a shameless plug). I've actually run the business for many years as a "nights and weekends" job in addition to my regular jobs. But I never was happy working for other people, and it was finally time to really take the plunge and do it full time. I definitely have not regretted it! And don't let this particular website fool you. This page is only so colorful and gaudy because it's the first website I ever made, so it's nostalgic. The rest of my websites are extremely professional looking, I swear! :)

Hmmm.. what else?  I live with my husband, who is not only a wonderful man, but also my best friend and the love of my life. I feel blessed to have him by my side. We have 2 (very spoiled, very happy, very good) dogs, who we think of as our four-footed furry children. We spend most of our time working, playing with the dogs, and with our family. In general, we're very happy people, despite the usual depressing crap life can sometimes throw at you. Life is very good. And even when it's not, we have each other to share the burden and make it seem not so scary. Often when things are at their worst, we find ourselves trying to cheer each other up by making little jokes about things, and after you've laughed hysterically about something a few thousand times, it just doesn't seem so terrible anymore, even if it really is. We find that it just takes so much of the stress out of life if you approach things with a little bit of humor and a lot of love.

What else can I tell you? Hmmm.. Well, I play a pretty decent game of chess. To my great chagrin, my hubby always kicks my butt, although 9 times out of 10 I can easily beat anyone else I play against. But Risk... Risk is another story. I've had a winning streak for about the last 2 years now. We've played every single friend we have, and a bunch of people we only kind of knew besides, and I pretty much kicked every one of their butts. I've only actually lost twice in that time. Much to my hubby's chagrin. :) Unfortunately though, it's a really time consuming game, and I've mostly had to give that up for lack of time. When we were teenagers, my hubby and I and some friends used to play Changeling alot. It's a really cool roleplaying game by WhiteWolf (the people who make Vampire, Werewolf, etc). That was really fun too. We still have all of the manuals and things and would like to play again soon, but where to find the time... Not to mention other people who have the time (and attention span). But someday.

We're not really huge fans of TV. In fact, it's mostly "that thing we set stuff on top of that will rot our brains and shorten our attention spans if we dare turn it on". But we're definitely cartoon addicts. I love to stream them on my computer while I'm working. Family Guy, The Simpsons, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Futurama, Sealab 2021, Daria, The Tick, South Park, American Dad, and a bunch of other stuff. I love Star Trek too. Not so much the new Star Trek Enterprise series, but Star Trek Voyager, Deep Space 9, and The Next Generation definitely rock. I also have a couple of guilty pleasures - Absolutely Fabulous, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Are You Being Served, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Charmed, and The Gilmore Girls come to mind, for starters... For my fellow multimedia freaks who also can't remember what they downloaded/watched/still need, I made an Episode Guides website. Enjoy. I really need to put some kind of "no HTML knowledge needed" WYSIWYG editing software up on that site because it's getting to be a bit much for me to maintain with everything else that's always going on. I now have over 300 websites to maintain, and so some projects have fallen to the wayside. Email me if you're interested in applying to edit a show. I could use the help!

I also love to read anything and everything, usually when I'm in the bathtub, because it's the only time I'm actually sitting still. I'm known for taking 4 hour baths where I read an entire book, from cover to cover. Sometimes two, if they're small books.

And speaking of books.. check out the book review section of my site if you want to know what I've been reading and what I think of it, though chances are that it's well overdue for an update by now.

I don't really know what else to say, except for please go sign my guestbook and say hello!  =)

~Peace~
